November, 2020 LOUISVILLE, KY – Brandeis Machinery & Supply Co., along with sister company Power Equipment Co., recently became the first Associated Equipment Distributor dealer member recognized by The AED Foundation (AEDF) and pursuant to Department of Labor standards, as an Industry Recognized Apprenticeship Program (IRAP). This fall, AEDF was named a Standards Recognition Entity (SRE) by the Department of Labor for the heavy equipment industry. Brandeis’s IRAP designation allows technicians who complete their apprenticeship through Brandeis to also become Certified AEDF Technicians. This distinction demonstrates that technicians have received optimal education that lives up to the industry standard.
Keith Harlan, VP Product Support and Operations, sees the value in this designation. “The Brandeis Apprenticeship program has allowed us to build our service capabilities and keep our customers’ goals front of mind. Being an IRAP, we are able to continue to build on our apprentices’ training and career development. We know that continued investment in our Apprenticeship program sets us apart from other dealers.”
David Coultas, President of Brandeis agrees, “The Brandeis Apprenticeship program keeps our focus precisely where it should be, on our customers. In our industry, there is a shortage of qualified technicians. Our program allows us to build knowledgeable technicians, which are the foundation of our customer service commitment. We are honored to be the first IRAP recognized by the AEDF”
The Brandeis Apprenticeship program was started in 2015. The program is conducted over 24 months with both on the job and classroom instruction. New classes are started every 9 months. Instructors are dedicated to the program, allowing focus to remain with the apprentices throughout the participation in the program.
